January 30th, O.P. XXIII (Yule)
Struggling scribe Author D. Great came into Court this e'en complaining
that he was knocked unconscious and robbed at a brothel in Windsor.  He also admitted to replacing his stolen shirt by taking a noble's shirt from a servant, for which he was arrested.  It was later discovered that Sirrah Adder had a shirt stolen from his servant, and a possible link between the two events is currently being investigated.

Duke Lorath told the Companions that he had been "assassinated" over the weekend by none other than Damsel Mikayla, herself a Companion.  When the suspect arrived in Court, she was questioned about the incident, at which point she freely admitted killing the duke.  She explained that in
the "old days" Companions would openly assassinate one another, but more imporatantly, she felt she would gain an insight into the assassin's
methods by learning them first-hand, thereby improving her chances to
defend against them in the future.  Duke Lorath chose not to press charges against Damsel Mikayla.

The woman named "Uhhh" returned to Court this week, inquiring about the position of Sexicutioner.  Also inquiring about the position was Samson of Argus' Pleasure Palace, a woman named Helga, and a man named Allen.  Duke Lorath left the interview/auditioning process up to Ohmahlourd F-f-f-fritz, who announced by the end of the e'en that he had dismissed the two male contestants for failing the written portion of the interview (that being the date of Duke Lorath's birthday, which is known to no one, not even Lorath himself), and that his vote was for Helga.  No word yet on any official appointments.

A wizard named Dagoth Or (sic?) came to Court, claiming that he belonged to the same order as Vivek and inquiring as to the renegade wizard's status.  When told that Vivek was dead, he demanded proof.  He also asked about Vivek's staff, claiming that it was the source of his powers.  Paladin Aeric answered that the staff had been sent to the Mages' Tower after Vivek's death, but a quick inquiry to the Tower revealed that the staff never arrived.  Paladin Aeric resolved to be Dagoth's guide in the lands and to assist in his investigation (read: Aeric will escort the wizard in Warwick and make sure he doesn't do anything wrong).

An Ambassador Kendral from an unnamed country visited the Court of Light this e'en, accompanied by his 8-foot-tall bodyguard.  The bodyguard was covered from head to foot in a cloak and did not speak at all.  Kendral explained that he was from a land to the north which, being at peace for over a century, was very paranoid about exposing itself to attack.  They were approaching Warwick in the hopes of forming an alliance with a militarily-powerful realm.  Duke Lorath explained that he did not have the authority to approve such an alliance, least of all without knowing more about the country proposing the alliance.  The ambassador vowed to deliver the duke's message to his own liege lord and left the Court.  He left behind a sword wrapped in cloth which turned out to be of the same make as the sword discovered beneath Kel Coriche; the sword that could cut through Warwickian steel as if it were paper.  That, and the large bodyguard with the ambassador, led some Companions to speculate that perhaps they were from the army that the Court was recently warned
about.  Paladin Aeric reported that he had received word from Sir Lucerne in the northern kingdom of Ynessia that his court had also gotten a similar warning.  The ambassador sent word back to the Court requesting his sword back, as it was supposedly a family heirloom dating back generations, but the Duke said that he would only return it to him in
person.

Queen Flidais returned to the lands after a two-week absence.  She
apologized to the Companions for bringing what she described as a "traitor into our midst."  She was referring to Sir Mordecaii, who she had determined was actually from an alternate reality, possibly the same
alternate reality she found Sir Marduk in last year.  Her theory was
confirmed by a group of neutral mages upon inspecting the devices used to reach this Mordecaii in the first place.  Her Majesty made a call for the
fake Mordecaii's immediate arrest.  The queen also clarified her earlier
statements about keeping order by any means necessary.  She admitted that Mordecaii's murder of the peasant did not serve to preserve order, but she still supports the idea in general.

The bounty hunter Kyle came to Court this e'en to inquire once again
about the bounty on the heads of the Adder family.  The queen made it
clear to him that the Adders were under the protection of the crown, and
anyone seeking to harm them would be put to death.  This seemed to be
enough to dissuade the bounty hunter from pursuing the Companion or his
family any further.  Both he and the mercenary Thomas Moore were offered jobs as security at F-f-f-fritz's restaurant.
