SWORD-SNATCHING ATTEMPT FAILS...NOT!
Duke Lorath told the tale of his death at the hands of what seemed to be Sirrah Valric Tuesday night.  The squire went to Lorath's abode that night, asking to see Ambassador Kendral's sword.  Satisfied that the squire was restored to his former self, the duke allowed him into his home but was evasive about letting him see the weapon.  Just then, Lorath's guards that were in the room at the time drew their blades and killed themselves; the duke himself was slain by Valric, an evil grin upon his face, as he was reacting to his guards' horrific actions.  Lorath came back to himself to find his home trashed and the sword in question missing.  The boobytraps that were guarding the weapon were set off, and a golem's hand was left behind, severed by one of the traps.

Meerd, who is currently residing at Paladin Aeric's home as a closely-
monitored guest, confirmed that Valric's memories had indeed been
restored to him by Lacon--except the "bad times" that Meerd kept for
himself.  Meerd, who related this information when he was brought into
Court by the sheriff, seemed convinced that he was doing Valric a favor
by not returning the "bad times" to Valric.  No word on whether this missing time has anything to do with the errant squire's recent behavior, but attempts are in the works to either convince Meerd to return Valric's "bad time" to him or to find a way to do so without his cooperation.

In a related story, Earl Mus reported that the Mages Tower had also been
broken into by golems, who proceeded to mess with the minds of the mages and steal the original, smaller meteoric-iron sword discovered beneath the ruins of Kel Corice.  Earl Mus stated that the mind-effect
perpetrated on the mages was not necessarily magical in nature, and he
would begin training them to resist it in the future.  Paladin Aeric, possessing formidable mental defenses himself, offered to help in this training.

Earl Mus also stated that the golems had come from someplace northwest of Cumbria, according to some scouts that he had sent after them.  No word yet on what exactly will be done in light of this new revelation.

ASSASSINS COMPLAIN--COMPANIONS TOO EASY TO KILL!
Two assassins, wearing masks and refusing to reveal their names, boldly
entered the Courtroom this e'en complaining that the Companions that they
prey upon simply do not put up a good fight anymore.  Duke Lorath
identified both men as assassins who had killed him a few weeks back, and
so they were both arrested on the spot by the sheriff.

DREAMS AND MEMORIES
A number of Companions related dreams and dream-like revelations had over the past week.

Dame Jassurande reported that she got her missing memories back, but that they returned to her following a strange dream wherein she looked down
upon her body abed as if floating above it, while the shadow-like form of
Lacon, Meerd, and a third unnamed person climbed into bed next to her.

Queen Flidais said that she had a strange waking dream; she had been
walking in her palace at the time, when all of a sudden she was in a lightless void.  She could see light emanating from somewhere inside her, but then it began to dim, eventually going out entirely.  Afterwards, she found herself back in the hallway as if no time had passed.

Finally, Earl Mus reported that he had a daydream while he was nibbling
on grubs in Barden.  In his dream, he watched himself in search of something in the field, something to satiate his hunger, although he could not say exactly what it was he searched for.  He felt it was an especially important vision since he had not felt the desire to eat for about a year now, since the death of his physical form.

ANDERS WARS WITH FOREIGN HORDE; WARWICK CONSULTED
The Court of Light received two messages this e'en, one from the Kingdom
of Anders and one from the Murkhanese barbarians they war with.  The
letter from Anders was penned by former Companion Fangorn Flynnarel, the consort of the queen of Anders.  He claimed that an unknown army
bolstered the ranks of the Murkhanese and planned a merciless invasion of
Anders.  The letter from the Murkhanese came directly from the pen of
their leader, who claimed that the war was in response to treaty violations on the part of the Anderians.  As Flynnarel asked the Court to send troops to help, so did the Murkhan leader ask Warwick to stay out of it.  In the end, Queen Flidais decided to send aid to the Kingdom of Anders.

NEW KNIGHT IS NO LAME DUCK
Damsel Duck announced tonight that she was done with the first level of
the Order of Prince Percival.  She was knighted shortly thereafter by the
queen.  By the end of the e'en, Dame Duck had declared for the first level of Bedivere.

PAGE-TURNING, WEEK TWO
This season's page class returned to Court this e'en, to give the Court their new names, residences, and choices for older siblings.  They are:

Master Kao, Cumbria, Lady Moira
Mistress Alanna Ardanach, Ahrothen, Duke Lorath
Master Zhuge Liang (page captain), The Wilderland, Paladin Aeric

The pages were given new quests this e'en: to learn their lineages and the stories behind their older siblings' banners, as well as several individual quests.

VANISHING ACT IN LANKHMAR
A man by the name of Lameed came into Court to report a strange occurance in his homeland of Lankhmar.  It seems that there was recently a
convention of some kind for mercenaries seeking employment; Lameed
attended this gathering in hopes of hiring someone to protect his home.  He left the convention for only a moment, but when he returned, everyone in the hall had vanished.  Plates of food sat half-eaten, chairs were pulled out as if someone had been sitting in them, but other than that there was no sign that anyone had been in the place.

Paladin Aeric brought up the as-yet unsolved mystery of the mostly-
vanished bakery in Ahrothen a few weeks back, and Duke Lorath reminded the Court of the case of his disappearing beard.  Companions are advised to keep their ears and eyes open for further instances of unexplained vanishing acts.

MORDECAII RETURNS...AGAIN....
Sir Mordecaii (the non-evil one) made his triumphant and very-much-alive
return to Court this e'en.  While he was evasive on the exact details of his resurrection, he did assure the Court that the "other" Mordecaii was definitely dead.  He also made a promise to do something in the near
future that would prove that he was, in fact, the real Mordecaii.  As to
what that something would be, he did not elaborate.

NECROMANCY TROUBLES MULTIPLY
Paladin Aeric and Lady Moira reported that the corruption evinced in the
necromancy school to the south of Warwick is growing in strength if not
actually spreading.  They told the story of how they returned to the site over the weekend, in the hopes of removing the corrupted students to a place where they could be examined and hopefully healed.  They were attacked en route by a large number of walking skeletons wielding weapons that appeared to be composed of pure corruption (if such a contradiction
in terms can be made).

While the initial attempt to reach the school failed, a second attempt revealed that the wards placed on the school's entrance had been removed,
and the large stone placed over the hatch had been destroyed.  As the
skeletons issuing out of the school were wearing tattered remnants of the
students clothing, it can only be surmised that all of the victims of the
corruption met the same fate.

Of the original guards who had been affected by the place's corrupting
aura, one remained alive, although very much out of his mind.  The High
Druin and Lady Moira resolved to examine him fully in search of a cure,
while Paladin Aeric stated that he was seeing to a large force of specially trained soldiers (templars) to journey to the school and destroy the skeletal hordes, if not the school and the corrupted spirit now residing there.
