A LONG TIME AGO, IN A LAND FAR, FAR AWAY....
His Majesty, King Mus Machias McQuillon, opened Court this week with a tale of his past.  It was the story of four great houses which arose in a distant land long ago: Do, Ah, Rah, and Moor.  These four houses held on to their power through extortion, and battled with one another until they formed a peace and developed rules of conduct.

In time, these houses discovered a group of immortal wizards called the 'Dark,' who commanded a fierce army of fanatically-loyal followers.  Each house sent their eldest sons to the Dark to learn their secrets; these sons returned to their respective houses and restructured them from within to resemble the Dark.  They then turned upon the wizards and destroyed them all.

Then the Four houses started to war against each other.  House Ah attacked the House of Moor, and were destroyed by them.  The Houses of Rah and Do also started to fight each other, but they banded together to destroy all the members of House Moor, except for one man--King Mus himself.

The king had thought his past was far behind him until six months ago, when members of House Do appeared in Lyonesse, and a mere month ago, when House Rah had appeared in our very own Lankhmar.  In secret, King Mus has been able to destroy or gain the allegiance of these extortionists, so that their presence is removed from our lands.

Seeing that his past has come back to haunt him, King Mus has decided for the good of the Eleven Lands to abdicate the throne in order to return to his homeland across the sea and unite all four Houses under his banner in the hopes of reforming them.

Both Dona Karissa and the Widow Dragonsbane have stepped forward as candidates for the throne.

TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT!
Along a similar vein, Baron Ptolomei announced in Court that he was vacating the position of Seneschal; Sir Marduk is saying good-bye to the title of Grand Knight of the Charter, Duke Mollari is stepping down as Premier to pursue his scholarly duties, and the Herald (Palpatine) and High Druin (Ambernathia) will be retiring as well.

So far, the candidates are as follows:
Sovereign--Karissa, Catalyn
Premier--Mollari, Scarlette
Seneschal--Colin, Aeric, Ambernathia
High Druin--Scarlette
Grand Knight--Lucerne
Herald--Moira

REVENGE OF THE WOLF...DUKE?
Duke Mollari returned to the Court of Light after a long absence, but in a most distressing state.  It would seem that whatever magicks Magius Fangorn Flynnarel used to change the duke into a human Way Back When have not completely left his system; only this time, the duke was in a half-wolf, half-Aquitanian form.  His Grace behaved like a wild beast for the majority of the evening, crawling around on all fours, sniffing at Companions crotches, and growling at everyone except for Knight Dimardizad, who was apparently able to communicate somehow with the duke.  It must have been the fur....

THE WAR IS OVER
A breathless Sir Aeric burst into Court on Thursday, bearing news from the north that the Dark Dragon Horde that has plagued Ahrothen since earlier this year has been driven off.  The orks are in total disarray, apparently having returned to their normal stupid and tribal selves.  The orks have taken to fighting amongst each other and eating their human commanders.  The Ahrothen rangers are now tackling the challenge of hunting down and destroying the remaining orks before they can regroup and terrorize the moors in the usual fashion.

Meanwhile, Sir Aeric himself is faced with the reconstruction of his province.  Most of the peasantry of Ahrothen fled to other lands during the invasion campaign, and much was lost in the ways of natural resources and property damage.

SPIKING THE PUNCH
The recent victory in Ahrothen was in no small part due to the efforts of Countess Ambernathia and Paladin Galchauren.  Ambernathia related the tale of their daring midnight mission behind enemy lines a few weeks ago, where they disguised themselves as orks and put the Stupidity Powder into the Horde's drinking water and into the Chalice of Thoth as well.  They were successful thanks to the help of a mysterious black-robed wizard.  Paladin Galchauren, who has not returned to Court since the mission, was unavailable for comment.

GO! GO! PAGES IN BLACK
Sir Aeric announced his candidacy for first-level Gawaine, and returned the title of Grand Knight of Perceval to Lord Palpatine, Sir Lucerne was knighted as a second-level Lanceletian, a position unseen in Court since Count Montjoy; and Healer Moira announced that she has completed all the requirements for first-level Bedevere.

CHIVALRY
Dome(?) Inanna and several other female members of the Court made a request of the Companions for more respect, for themselves as Ladies, for the Regency, and for other Companions in general.  Their requests were detailled and specific, and were received with various levels of enthusiasm by the members of the Court.

Well, that's all I can remember for this week, kiddies!  Until next week, remember:

"No noose is GOOD noose."
