| Tonight was the first Court of the new Saveign season, and as
such saw a return of many Companions who had been absent over the
summer. Dame Eowyn, complaining of unfair rent increases in her land, announced that she was moving. She auctioned off all the stuff she didn't feel like taking with her when she moves. Dame Jausserande reported some strange goings-on in Pern...apparently someone had opened a crevasse near a dragon's lair, causing the dragons within to be nearly crushed by stones. Thankfully the local peasants were on hand to save the dragons before that could happen. Lady Moira reported that a well in Cumbria had been poisoned, but an old lady in the village recognized the symptoms before anyone was killed by it, and it was cleaned up. Duke Aeric had a similar report, that someone had released some wild dogs into Keltian where they slew a number of that land's native cats before being driven off or killed by the people living there. The Premier also reported discovering four bodies that apparently belonged to vampires, burning and with signs above their heads for each of the four directions. In the center of the circle was an "S" with a line drawn through it. This event seemed unrelated to the other three, however. Shortly after these reports, the Court was visited by the monk Hector, who was the same one responsible for Moira's disappearance for a week over the summer. He explained that there was an imbalance in the world and that the Light was too strong; he offered as evidence the fact that "mere peasants" were able to solve their own problems. He and his fellow monks feel that in order for the balance to return, evil needs to get off its ass and work harder. The Court had three other visitors this e'en: The first visitor was a messenger from the Doomsday Peasant Class, which through a number of deliveries of small butterfly hair clips in the king's hair, presented to him a nice silky shirt to go with his new cloak. The second visitor was also a messenger, by the name of Abdul, who had apparently brought a gift of five hundred camels from Padre Trell of Knight Flag Land. The third visitor went unnamed, but was of some great magical power and was handled exclusively by the High Druin, who placed him in the Mages' Tower under supervision for the time being. |
