| TO HEIR IS HUMAN King Mordecaii publicly revealed tonight that his two children--recently brought to Warwick from his land of origin--are named as his heirs. This fact was told to the Companions upon his return to Warwick several weeks ago, but they were put under oath not to reveal this news. Apparently King Mordecaii felt that the time was right to "let the cat out of the bag," in his words. Exactly what this all means to the future of Warwick's sovereignty is unknown at the moment. His Majesty's announcement coincided with a visit to the Court from one Lady Stark, a noblewoman of godlike status from the King's homeland who had, at one point, controlled him like a slave. Upon her leaving the Courtroom, His Majesty announced that he was no longer beholden to this woman, his return from death cementing his faith in Eld Magnil over all other gods, and that he was determined to make her stay in Warwick miserable as repayment of some unspoken debt she owes him. The beginning of this seeming revenge upon the Lady Stark was his arrangment of lodgings for her in the worst inn in Lankhmar. Towards the end of the e'en, the Court was introduced to one of the king's children--his daughter, Valeria--in a manner which was probably quite different than what His Majesty would have preferred. The girl came running into the Courtroom quite upset, explaining that she and her brother had snuck out of their quarters in order to attend the Tournament scheduled to be held later that e'en on the melee field, and that her brother had been abducted by "bad men" shortly thereafter. The King immediately departed in search of these kidnappers and did not return that e'en. LOSING MY RELIGION A man speaking an unidentifiable language appeared in Court this e'en; after some magical intervention on the part of the High Druin, the man was able to tell the Companions that he was looking for a vessel which supposedly contained the essence of his people's god. THERE'S LOTS OF FISH IN THE SEA Ambassador Ixixatchitl of Aquitania visited the Court this e'en with news of that nation's reconstruction by his people. The Ceteceans, which once served the Aquitanians as slaves, have since taken control of the badly-damaged undersea realm and just now have restored it to a point where diplomatic relations with other nations can be considered. Seeing the kingdom of Warwick as their liberators (however coincidentally), the new Aquitania wished to re-establish relations with our realm. The king welcomed this whole-heartedly as a long-awaited way to heal old wounds. SALT PETER The confused would-be Grand Knight, Sir Peter, returned to Court this week with an apology for his un-Companion like behavior two weeks ago. The apology was accepted by Sir Mudd, the Companion who Sir Peter challenged to a duel to the death while under the influence of alcohol, and by the Court at large. A comment about the former queen, Knight Flidais, provoked a reaction from Sir Peter that revealed he thinks that she is his wife. Exactly what this all means is unknown at this time, but despite the uncertain mental condition of the man, both the king and the Duke of Windsor offered Sir Peter their hospitality until this mess could be straightened out. |
