| WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIENDS The final leg of the multi-part Tournament of Champions was held within the very Courtroom this e'en. Fortunately for the cleaning staff and the furniture, this final competition consisted only of a question asked privately of each contestant by the king. No word yet on who got the job, but we know who definitely didn't--Thomas Moore, the infamous mercenary and reticent Easter Bunny, apparently failed the final exam. That leaves the other three: Sirrah Zhuge Liang, Sir Lorath Hawksmoor Zandofar, and Princess Valeria. TROUBLE IN PARADISE Captain Roberts of the Windsor Guard reported coming across a strange black disk in Ahrothen while in the province running some personal errands. The disk appeared to emit a strange white light, and as he and his companion, a fellow guard by the name of Allen, approached closer, an arm reached out of the disk as if someone--or some THING--were trying to escape from it and into our world. Allen charged the creature but was killed by it instead. Shogun Galchauren has placed guards around the disk (the arm and light apparently disappeared) until further investigation can be done. ENDER? DAMN NEAR KILLED...HIM? As per His Majesty's request, Sir Ender McQuillon made a rare appearance in Court this e'en. The errant knight faces charges of murdering Sir Ector (no relation), a visitor to the Court last year. The king has withheld judgement or even a trial until a full investigation can be launched, but for the time being, Sir Ender is to remain within the Lands. In Sir Ender's company was Sir Peter, and the two were interacting as if they were old friends. Ender complained about how Peter was being treated (as if he were not a Companion), lending further credence to the theory that Ender's missing memories and Peter's (apparently) false ones are somehow connected. I AM A MAN IN A BOX A wounded man staggered into the Courtroom this e'en, clutching a small silver box. His last words before expiring on the Courtroom floor were "General...not...Qui." A little later in the e'en, the man known as Qui came into Court looking for the box. Appearing extremely distressed that it was empty, Qui made it clear to the Companions that it once held an entity his people referred to as their "wish god." Further discussion revealed that Malachai, the man with the near-uncontrollable magical powers, is somehow a manifestation of a wish, and is the result of the wish god's disappearance. Somehow. Ok, so maybe it wasn't that clear, but one thing is for certain: there is a wish god on the loose in the Lands. IS THERE A SIGN ON MY LAWN...? Shogun Dragonsbane and Sir Lorath reported a disturbing development in the recent vampire murders in the lands. Someone known only as "G" has been buying up businesses in Ahrothen and converting them into storehouses for vampire corpses. Some of the corpses were arranged in the compass-rose pattern as originally discovered by Duke Aeric in Windsor several weeks ago, indicating that it is the same culprit(s). One item of special note was the presence of several barrels of the infamous "vampire suntan lotion" being hawked about the Lands last year. ILL MET IN LANKHMAR Agents of the King were filtering in and out of the Courtroom all night reporting no leads on the whereabouts of the Prince or any evidence of Lady Stark's (AKA the White Lady) involvement in his kidnapping. That is, until the end of the e'en, when a messenger bore His Majesty a chilling missive from the White Lady, sarcastically thanking the king for seeing that her accomodations were so terrible and promising to "return the gift tenfold." Upon hearing the message, King Mordecaii leapt to his feet, cried out "she's killed him," drew the Court sword, and ran out of the Courtroom. Several Companions followed him; one of these, Sir Lorath, returned shortly thereafter with some grisly news. The White Lady had indeed killed the Prince, or at the very least was in posession of his corpse, and upon seeing it, the king flew into a murderous rage, killing the White Lady and about thirty of her attendants. His Majesty then fled off into the night; his whereabouts are currently unknown. |
