MISSING PERSONS
The owners of Ahrothen, Brittany, Gaul, Keltian, Lankhmar, Pern, the
Wilderland, and Windsor announced in Court this e'en that 200 people
from each of their lands had gone missing since the last Court. Eyewitness
reports said that large humanoid constructs made of metal and wood--
golems--appeared out of nowhere and abducted the people, vanishing
similarly afterwards. It was said that the golems seemingly appeared
from behind an invisible curtain, behind which lay another world.
There
is no doubt in any Companion's mind that this is the work of the wizard
Gylemantis, who has visited the Court twice so far this season.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Two students from the Wilderland School visited the Court with more
news of Gylemantis and the disappearances of Warwick's people. Through
methods unrevealed, the students were able not only to destroy one of the
golems as it appeared in the Wilderland, but they were also able to travel
to the realm the golem came from in the first place. They
reported a land identical to our own in landscape if not architecture,
covered in a bluish-colored fog. The students witnessed a large
number
of golems--in excess of two hundred--and an enormous cage with a crowd
of people within it. Another building nearby seemed to contain other
people sitting calmly, as if waiting for something.
When asked by the queen for details about their methods, the students
were very tight-lipped, claiming that there was little they were allowed
to reveal to outsiders. Their reaction was the same when the
queen asked
for a way for Companions to travel to this other world to rescue their
people.
HEAD OF THE CLASS
The much sought-after Headmaster of the Wilderland School appeared
in
Court this e'en. He stated that the masters at the school would
swear
their loyalty to Clan Dragonsbane, thereby hopefully resolving the
conflict of interests between the Court and the School. When asked
about his dimension-travelling students, the Headmaster revealed that a
device
taken from the destroyed golem's body was used to make the journey,
and that some kind of magic was used to destroy the golem, but in order
to safeguard a certain individual's life, he could not reveal any more
than
that. Now that the bridge between the Court and the Wilderland
School
has seemingly been rebuilt, hopes are that they will continue to aid
the
Companions in their quest to retrieve the missing peasantry.
LACON-INTOLERABLE
The much-hated Lacon Vox appeared in Court this e'en, purportedly to
gloat over the downfall of Warwick. He intimated that the golems
used by Gylemantis came from the islands of Vox, and suggested that the
Companions cast some sort of aura-reading spell on him the next time
he
appears in Court, which Marquessa Catalyn offered to do. When
it came
time for Lacon to leave, he disappeared through the dimensional curtain
in a manner identical to Gylemantis, suggesting that the two were of
the
same race...or make....
BEDTIME STORIES
It was suggested by a number of Companions that perhaps Gylemantis
was one of the two individuals whose names began with "G" that featured
so prominently in Multum Vox's tale a few Courts back. When the Companion
in question came into Court, he was asked about this. While he could
not say for sure if Gylemantis was involved in the war he helped to start
(and end) over the summer, Vox did shed some light on the name itself.
Apparently Gylemantis is a mythical creature, akin to the Boogeyman, who
lives behind curtains and steals children in the dark of night.
DEAD/ALIVE
It was confirmed this e'en that the High Druin's spirit has indeed
been
separated from his body, which continues to remain in an inanimate
yet
non-decomposiing state. Earl Mus related a tale of magical battle
with
one of his enemies, a Dark Mage, near the Temple of Saint Tyrell where
his body was found. It was also revealed that the Dark Mages
tend to
dissolve into puddles of black goo upon their deaths, which would explain
the puddle of black goo found in the vicinity last week. His
Eminence
reported seeing a bright light constantly overhead and the ability
to see
spirits hanging around in graveyards. He also apparently received
a deck
of tarot cards recently from a "painted man," perhaps a voodoo priest
of
some sort.
DIDN'T EVEN KNOW 'ER!
When the Queen asked the Companions if anyone had seen Sir Ender since
his quest this past weekend, Ohmuhlahrd F-f-f-fritz reported running into
him earlier in the week. The Grand Knight was apparently rambling
incoherently, saying something about going home, and gave his swords
to F-f-f-fritz.
According to Queen Flidais, she and Ender were separated at the beginning
of their quest. She has hazy recollections of a hunchbacked guide,
a trial of some sort set in "the Courtroom," and a vague sense of something
lost, but nothing more. None of the other Companions sent on quests
by the Pendragon volunteered any information regarding their experiences,
nor did anyone ask them to.
SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK
At the request of Sir Aeric, Lord Dragonsbane led the Court in a ritual
to summon the spirit of the late Sir Mordecaii back to this earthly
plane. When Mordecaii appeared, he informed the Companions that
he left a ritual in his will for Lord Dragonsbane to summon him should
he be
needed for any reason. In this instance, Sir Aeric wished to
challenge
Mordecaii for the title of grand knight of Gawaine, for Sir Mordecaii
had
stated while he was alive that any Gawainite who could best him in
all
four weapons categories twice over would be given the title of grand
knight of the order.
I AIN'T GOT NO BODY....
As a closing note, Queen Flidais called for a melee pitting those
Companions who had lost their physical bodies at one time or another
against those who had not. The sides were about equal. |
