"Whispers of the Ballroom"

As she entered the ballroom
Her face lit up like a star.
Beaming with happiness of the moment.
Dancing with exhilarating joy!
Little could we see that it was a joy without foundation.
The winds of disbelief blew away the seeds of delight.
For she never believed it was meant to continue;
She never felt it was possible.
Soon the room began to fade;
The decorations turning into so much smoke.
The song was over.
And the woman was content in her sorrow.
It had all turned out as expected after all.
She walked down the hall into the darkness.
But, left behind;
More silent than an angel's whisper,
I could hear the ballroom; crying with regret.
Had she believed, she could have danced forever.
But for now, all that remained were the whispers of the ballroom.
"Return to the Ballroom"
A man can act before a whisper can fade.
Hearts can mend what once was broken.
Entering the darkness shivering like a child
He sweeps the floors with music;
The lights are hung with verse.
Within these walls there is such sadness in the solitude.
The whispers of the room were really my own.
No longer need he suffer in the darkness;
When there is darkness enough in the light.
The last to believe is the first one bereaved.
With faith the song plays anew.
His eye focus upon the opening door
Choking back a tear he believes once more.
It is his curse;
It is his salvation.
